Donald Williams
After graduating from Corsicana High School in 1971, Donald Williams enrolled at Navarro College. During his two years at Navarro, Williams was an officer in Phi Theta Kappa, attending national conferences in various parts of the United States. After graduating with honors in 1973, Williams transferred to East Texas State University (now Texas A&M-Commerce), where he earned a bachelors degree and a masters of public administration. Following his graduation from the Legislative Staff Management Institute at the University of Minnesota, Williams launched his career as a research specialist for the Texas Senate and Chief of Staff for a Texas state representative. In 1984 Williams was named Legislative Director to Texas Governor Mark White, and two years later moved to Carson City, Nevada, to accept a position with the Legislative Counsel Bureau for the State of Nevada. In 1994 he was promoted to chief principal research analyst, and in that role was the lead policy analyst for several major committees in the Nevada Legislature. Today, Williams is the Legislature's nonpartisan Research Director, and serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Williams has fond memories of his time at Navarro College. "Those two years were great for me," he recalls. Commenting on the caring support he received from faculty and the strong friendships he forged, Williams cites his Navarro experience as a major contributor to his professional success. His travel experiences with Phi Theta Kappa and the opportunities to develop his leadership skills through that organization helped prepare him for his future career.
Navarro College is proud to have Donald Williams of Carson City, Nevada, as an alumni.
Brent Magness, D.D.S.
When I graduated from Teague High School and began considering where to begin my college studies, I chose Navarro College. The small classes and caring instructors at Navarro were major factors that influenced my decision. The nurturing environment helped me make the transition from a small high school to college. I developed relationships at NC with teachers and classmates that I continue to enjoy today. After I completed by two years at Navarro, I transferred to the University of Texas at Arlington to complete my bachelors degree. I then enrolled at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. After completing my dental studies, I returned to Corsicana to establish my practice, primarily because of the positive experiences I had at Navarro and in the community. I have watched Navarro grow and change in many positive ways, and I am proud to be an alumnus of this fine institution. Choosing Navarro College was certainly a wise decision for me.
